Family Session at My Little White House in West Seattle
This cozy 170 square foot studio makes for such a great spot for really unique photos for so many occasions. This family shoot came out so well and I loved how everything around was so white. Photographers get excited about white walls because white reflects light so well and is able to soften light and minimize nasty color casting tones that you might get from incandescent bulbs and other forms of artificial lighting. The decor was so thoughtfully designed as well. There was a nice white couch along one wall; great for family and group photos. The other wall had a flat bench, there was a side table along the corner, and the back of the studio actually opened up to a semi outdoor area with a bathtub.
We spent an entire hour inside this studio and we easily could have spent more. Those photographers interested in shooting here, I definitely recommend a wide angle or having a zoom lens capable of wide angle. I used my trusty 24-70mm f/2.8L lens the entire time and mainly shot at 24-36mm the entire time due to how physically tight the space was, and also the size of the family! Be prepared!
I used a Xpro remote trigger with a Canon Godox V1 flash off-camera with a Westcott softbox diffuser. The look I was able to achieve with off-camera flash was so incredibly satisfying, and definitely much better than on-camera flash.
My Little White House is accessible by car with plenty of parking. It is located just behind a main single family home where the host was very accommodating and was there to answer any questions.
