Henry and Zoe | Discovery Park Engagement Session

SEATTLE ENGAGEMENT PHOTOGRAPHER

This session has been featured on Brides & Weddings! Check it out!

I was really looking forward to this engagement session! Henry and Zoe booked me for their wedding in the fall of last year for their early fall wedding this year. We’ve been planning their engagement session for quite some time and rescheduled once due to rain, but finally scheduled one this early spring and it was so worth it! The warmer days allowed us to be more comfortable during the session as we had the session during the golden hour sunset. The lush greenery started to appear in Discovery park, which make for more fuller and vibrant vegetation around this area

We started off in an open field area with high grass and a small narrow trail. The grass was a perfect complement to their tall height! With beautiful trees in the background that start showing their vivid green color, perfect golden hour glow, this spot and time was perfect for their engagement session. Although it was their first time being professionally photographed, Henry and Zoe were just so natural with each other. Their strong chemistry made it incredibly easy to work with them as I was able to focus on capturing the moments while they enjoyed each other’s company throughout the session.

For those who are planning a fall wedding, April is the perfect time to have your engagement session. Just having past the brutal PNW winters, the sun comes out a bit more, sets a bit later in the day, we get more warmth during the day, more lush vegetation and foliage, and you’ll receive your photos in time for save the dates and invitations.

The tall grass added an extra layer of depth and interest to the photos by framing the couple and really incorporating the enviornment. Everytime I see a photo, I want to feel like I’m there. I wasn’t sure what to expect when I arrived at this spot because I hadn’t visited the park since the fall of last year, but it looks so much better in the spring and I love how all these photos turned out.

Just on the other side of the street, there is a walking trail with more vegetation, pine trees, logs on the ground, and some small flowers starting to pop up on the ground. This area has so much natural beauty, there was no way I could pass up on capturing more authentic moments here. It almost feels like a scene from Alice and Wonderland here; I can’t imagine what it would look like in the summer.

Iconic photoshoot backgrounds at Discovery park feature the West Point Lighthouse and the nearby Miracle Beach. Although this is a also a great scenery to have photos taken at Discovery Park, I love how this photoshoot occured in a hidden gem area of Discovery Park. It’s a spot where it’s not exactly named and you can’t pinpoint it on google maps. Photoshoots don’t always have to be at popular spots and feature iconic backgrounds, they just need to have the right people, with the right story, for the world to see.

Although I would have loved to shoot here closer to the summer time, There’s always ways to make the best of unfavorable situations in photography. It was cold out here but I love what I do and was so excited to break the dry winter spell of the pacific northwest slow shooting season, that I would have done this again and again.
