There’s just something about the autumn season in the pacific northwest that truly highlights the beautiful nature that Seattle has to offer, and you don’t have to travel far from it. Right by downtown Bothell, there’s a park called “Bothell Landing Park” or “The Park at Bothell Landing” that offers so much diverse scenery and I absolutely love hosting mini sessions here. Parking is free and easy, you don’t need to walk far to get to beautiful locations, and there’s so much to see here.

There’s a beautiful bridge here called the “New Bothell Walking Bridge” and it photographs so well, not just on the bridge itself, but from both sides. From the north side, you really highlight the structure and framing of the bridge. On the bridge, you get a direct balanced angle and composition of the bridge itself. On the southside, you not only get the bridge in the background, but the Sammamish river and surrounding trees. You never would guess this is just a park right by any downtown area.

Just by the north side of the bridge, there are several old historic buildings that give this park a nice charm. Bothell used to be very undeveloped until the last decade, but upon new development and infrastructure got added, developers kept old historic elements of many buildings such as exposed brick. The Bothell Historical Museum and Lytle House are a few of several buildings that are great to incorporate into photos if you want to mix a bit if architectural feel into an otherwise fully outdoor/nature environment.

Right by the buildings, there’s a very open area that leads into some beautiful trees that display prominent fall colors during the fall season, along with open views of the Sammamish river. During the warm months, you will see many kayakers along the river. The river is surrounded by trees in the background that continue to add layers of interest to photos. It’s just beautiful here and one of the many reasons I continue to host mini sessions at this park. I have hosted hour-long sessions as well and do not even come close to running out of scenery to take photos of!

There’s actually even more to explore in this park. With about a 5 minute walk from the open area, there’s a boardwalk area. This is a bit more secluded and guarantees you will not have people in your background. The wooden framing of the walkway truly adds to how unique this location really is.

Just given the ease of access to this park (Right off 522 and I-405) with plenty of free parking, ease of access to various locations (1 minute by foot to the New Bothell Walking Bridge, just steps away from the historical buildings and open area, and 5 minute walk from the boardwalk, the Bothell Landing Park is definitely a top location of mine for outdoor/nature lifestyle shoots. Great for families, couples, kids, and pets.
